PAUL DEVLIN ACADEMY
(OTA Secondary Day & Boarding school)
Geme Village, 7 miles from Fort Portal, Western Uganda

OTA Secondary Day & Boarding SchoolWith the help of OTA supporters 8 class rooms and a dining hall have been built. We are beginning to acquire furnishings for this beautiful facility. I must admit, that when I look at the new rooms, the best comparison I can draw is ‘moving day’ – but with NOTHING TO MOVE!

  • Empty class rooms – imagine them being filled with desks and chairs.
  • Empty kitchen - I imagine the cookware, pot and pans, the mixing bowls, cooking utensils, serving ware, mixing equipment – oh so much fresh space to equip.
  • Empty dining/multi-purpose hall- I imagine neatly arranged rows of tables and seats, sets of serving plates, and place settings of dishes.
  • Empty dormitories (when built) –  imagine the bunk beds with colorful bedding, and mosquito nets…

The first phase of our school is finished. We expect to open the day school on  February  9nd 2009, while we continue building our second phase.

Once finished, the school will accommodate 320 students. Most of the children have been orphaned by AIDS and the ravages of war.  Some come from very poor families where education is an unreachable dream. We have the opportunity to help them attain their dreams through education.

When complete, our school will serve as a home for these precious children.  We will have dorm parents who will be involved in the care and nurturing of our boys and girls.  During school holidays, we will encourage the students to go and visit their relatives because we want to maximize the family ties which can be developed and solidify those which can be made complete.

Please continue to partner with us in any way possible to make this dream come true.  See the attached list of the immediate needs, and let your imagination run to realize what we may not have listed and help us get it before the kids get here. Just imagine your child in a new outfit, books and pencils in his/or her hand, anxious to start their first day at school. Here in America this is more common. But to these it’s usually just a dream.

Finally, please don’t hesitate to contact us for further details. Join us in this exciting work. Live and leave a legacy!

In hope of a brighter future,
