IYCWe also had a great IYC meeting in December. The theme was “Holey Night,” so everyone was encouraged to wear their ‘holey’ jeans, etc. We had special guests who performed for us. First on stage was a drama troupe/hip hop crew from Plovdiv. What a talented group of young people! Their performance illustrated the stress and challenges of peer pressure in the world today, and how Jesus can set us free to live an abundant life. Later, a couple of young men performed a ‘rap song’ for everyone! Bravo, boys! Next up were the “Hope Dancers” from Dobrich. Their dance medley made everyone want to sing and dance along with them! They performed the evolution of dance, from Elvis to Jay-Z. And of course, the IYC band played during the night as well, bringing everyone in to a spirit of worship. What an evening!

We continue to minister at the Orphanage. Although I loved being home for Christmas, the only hard thing for me personally was to be away from these children for 3 weeks. These children are so lovable! For instance, one day in December, Tausha, Rachel, Tanya, Sandra and I took two of the boys from the orphanage (Remi and John) out to lunch after church. While we were sitting in KFC, suddenly Rachel noticed that her purse was missing. Not only did she have money and credit cards inside, but also her car keys, car papers, house keys, passport, and her Bulgarian identification. All of us began to search for her purse, and when it didn’t readily appear, we went outside to pray and to look further. After a while, it was apparent that we needed to contact the local authorities, as there was nothing more we could do. So Tausha and Rachel left for the police station, and Tanya, Sandra, and I took the boys to the mall to watch a movie before returning to the orphanage. Once we got inside of a taxi, Remi announced that we should pray again for Rachel’s purse to be found. And there in front of the taxi driver, the two little boys once again lifted up the problem to Heaven and asked for God to help find Rachel’s purse! What a lovely illustration of the faith of a child. And yes, in the next few days, Rachel’s purse was found!
